Like any other health check, regular eye examinations are crucial. They provide valuable information about the internal state of your eyes and can help detect and prevent potential eye disorders that may lead to blindness if not addressed promptly. With Eagle Opticals, you can expect a thorough and accurate eye test that can catch any issues early. Schedule a complimentary consultation with Eagle Opticals today.

Procedures for conducting the eye test

The eye test typically takes between 20-30 minutes to complete. The optometrist will inquire about your health, medical history, lifestyle, dietary preferences, visual acuity, and eyewear usage throughout your procedure. Please provide the optometrist with accurate and up-to-date information.

The eye test is divided into three sections:

  • The initial section focuses on examining the external aspects of your eyes, including assessing your eye movement.

  • The second part is to check the health of your inner eye.

  • The third important aspect is ensuring the appropriate treatment for eye issues.

Your optometrist will provide a concise explanation of the eye examination procedure. The procedure goes thus:

  • Utilising a chart to interpret letters through various lenses with the assistance of a specialised frame or device. If you require accommodations due to a learning disability or English is your second language, alternative tests are available. These tests may involve identifying pictures or matching letters to corresponding images.

  • Following the initial procedure, the optometrist will utilise an ophthalmoscope to examine the inner workings of your eye. During the examination, the optometrist will approach you closely and use a bright light to read your eyes, instructing you to look in various directions.

  • Additional assessments involve evaluating muscle coordination and measuring pressure levels. The muscle check is performed to assess the functionality of your eye movements. In contrast, the pressure check uses the 'puff of air' test to identify any signs of glaucoma or issues related to eye pressure.

What occurs following your eye examination?

The optometrist will provide you with a detailed update on the outcome of your eye examination and offer additional information regarding any necessary surgical procedures and the specific type of surgery that may be required. Once all the essential information has been confirmed, you will be scheduled for a complimentary consultation for either of the suggested treatments.
